The Academy of Ignorance 3
Shedding Light on the Fashion Academy
The word to teach comes from the Latin insignare, composed of in (in) and signare (to point to), which implies guidance or indicating a direction. It can refer to the action of a teacher, a father, or a mother.

A clear conclusion: the reality behind many fashion academies
This post concludes the trilogy that began with “The Academy of Ignorance 1“. The conclusion is clear and uncomfortable: many so-called fashion schools are deceptive, and as a result, the quality of education they offer is virtually nonexistent.
One example speaks volumes. During a lesson on color theory, the director said:
“Black is the sexiest color, especially when it’s sheer. I’ve always worn it to seduce, and it’s never failed me.”
This kind of comment is not only inappropriate but also irrelevant in an educational setting.
From criticism to constructive action
Yet, from every negative experience, something positive can emerge. That’s why Cómo Cubrir Un Cuerpo was born — a platform to expose flaws in the current system, share advice, and offer a true alternative through an upcoming online fashion academy.
Building a real fashion academy online
We are finalizing the structure of a comprehensive online fashion school, designed for flexibility, accessibility, and in-depth learning — with personalized tutoring available anytime, anywhere.
The platform will include:
- How to take accurate body measurements
- Creating anthropometric measurement charts
- Pattern making and transformations
- Scaling in width and length
- Garment construction based on assembly type
- Production cost calculation
- Developing professional technical sheets
It will also offer:
- Individual corrections and feedback
- Personalized guidance from instructors
- Video conferences upon request
- Face-to-face meetings when needed
Enlightenment: the mission continues
While we finish the structure, we will begin publishing basic technical concepts of fashion creation right here on this blog — as an introduction to a more serious and structured study path.
“More light, more light!” — J.W. Goethe, March 22, 1832
These were the famous last words of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, spoken on March 22, 1832.
From now on, that will be our mission as well: to shine a light into the darkness of fashion education.
